
ADEA represents nurses, dietitians and other allied health professionals working in diabetes education. We aim to promote optimal health and well being for all people affected by, and at risk of, diabetes.
ADEA has 1250 members based in all Australian state and territories and a few overseas (Singapore and Hong Kong).
To promote best practice in diabetes self management education and care.
To advocate for the right of the person with diabetes to make informed decisions about their health and lifestyle choices; to promote innovation and leadership; to reflect the diversity and skills of the multidisciplinary ADEA membership; to promote effective practice; to develop productive partnerships.
To promote best practice in diabetes education and care through: promoting and conducting research; developing and disseminatng evidence based standards; advocating equitable access to quality diabetes education and services for all people with diabetes; supporting members and other health professionals in the provision of diabetes education and care through education and training programs. Provide a national voice on matters of diabetes education and care. Liaise and collaborate with relevant bodies to advance the practice of diabetes education. Undertake all necessary activities to achieve the principal objects of the company.
