The Cancer Nurses Society of Australia (CNSA) is a not-for-profit member association established in 1998 for nurses involved in cancer care. Its beginnings were in the then nurses group of the Clinical Oncological Society of Australia (COSA). Today CNSA remains as the nursing group within COSA while maintaining its status as an independent body for cancer nurses in Australia
“The CNSA is committed to achieving and promoting excellence in cancer care through the professional contributions of nurses.
To achieve our mission, the CNSA acts as a resource to cancer nurses around Australia and is the link between cancer nurses, the consumers of cancer nursing services, and other health professionals involved in cancer care.
Membership of the Association is open to Registered and Enrolled Nurses maintaining an interest in cancer care and control, qualified clinical practitioners or scientists normally resident within Australia or New Zealand who have a specific interest in oncology and hold a postgraduate degree or fellowship from a recognised college or society.
A National Executive Committee, that comprise elected representatives from all states and territories, and a nationally elected Chairperson, govern the CNSA.
The CNSA has both regional and special interest groups, standing committees for core areas of activity, as well as special project teams that are set up from time to time to undertake short term projects for CNSA
The CNSA has around 700 members based in all Australian states and territories.
